Robert Clinton Schick

Robert Clinton Schick “Bob”, age 97, passed away in Palmer, Alaska, at the Veterans and Pioneer Home.

Bob was born in Monroe, Washington to Clarence and Elizabeth Schick. He attended high school in Snohomish, Washington where he played football on an undefeated team in his senior year in 1944. He then enlisted and served in the United States Navy as World War II was ending.

Bob ventured to Nome, Alaska after his military service, married Doris Ilene “Ike” Harwood whom he knew from Washington State. They raised five children in Nome, Peggy, Barbara, Michael, Louie and Janet.

Bob worked as a mechanic for Alaska Airlines, the Nome Mining Company, CAA, FAA and Nome Joint Utilities.

Bob served for several years on the Nome Public School Board. After retirement, Bob and Ike moved to Wasilla and spent their summer months at their Dexter camp, ourside of Nome, where they enjoyed visiting with family and friends, the Readers, Millers, Engstroms, Maddens, Joel Craft and others.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Elizabeth; his older brother Clarence “Bud” Schick and his wife Shirley; his wife Ike, and their daughters Peggy Schick, Barbara Earp and Janet Breeden and son-in-law John “Kelly” Breeden.

Bob is survived by his younger brother Gerald Schick and his wife Christine, his two sons Michael and Louie and daughter-in-law Leona, and by a very close life-long family friend Sis Hegdal. Bob had 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
