Michael Lance Minix, Sr.
Michael Lance Minix, Sr. was born on July 6, 1957 to Larry Sr. and Lillian Minix in Nome, Alaska. He was the fifth of seven children; Jeanette, Larry Jr., Linda, Joy, Michael, George, and Karen.
In 1983 he married Grace and together they raised five children and helped raise their grandchildren. When the grandchildren started arriving, he said “they're coming out like popcorn popping.” They had an open door for those young ones in need of a place to go.
“A father's love is eternal, unconditional, and irreplaceable.” Michael loved his children and grandchildren. He was proud of every one of them. Their presence brought great joy to his life. He loved them more than life itself.
Michael graduated from Nome-Beltz High School in 1976.
He joined the Merchants Marines (Seafarers' International Union of North America) in February 1979 and spoke of adventures sailing through South America.

He joined the Local 302 Operators Union, working at various job sites over the years. He was well known for his “no fear” attitude maneuvering heavy equipment.
Michael was a hunter by land and sea. Many stories were told of these excursions. He was a provider and passed along his knowledge to his children and grandchildren. He also said only take what you will eat and always share.
Michael never met a stranger. He had the “gift of gab.” You could sit with him for the first time and leave like you've known him your whole life. “A good friend is like a four-leaf clover; hard to find and lucky to have.” - Irish Proverb
