Beatrice Agnes “Ittaiyii” Omiak Denny
Beatrice Agnes “Ittaiyii” Omiak Denny, age 83, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Valhalla Nursing Center.
She was born to Ruth Omiak Milligrock on Little Diomede Island, Alaska on July 14, 1941.
Beatrice is survived by her daughters Kimberly Omiak Spalding (Tommy) of Lebanon, and Catherine Omiak Denny of Louisville; two grandchildren, Thomas Cody Spalding of Louisville and Paul Omiak Spalding (Kendal) of Lebanon; three great grandchildren, Willow Reece Spalding, Wilder Omiak Spalding, and Wren Dailey Spalding; one brother, Andrew Milligrock and three sisters Geri Hoogendorn, Helen Iyapana and Darlene Milligrock, all of Alaska; one uncle, Sig Win Omiak of Alaska; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Susie Omiak, her mother Ruth Omiak Milligrock; two brothers Stanley and Herbert; two sisters Hannah and Annie; five uncles James, Patrick Sr., Paul, Harry, and Henry; five aunts Theresa Soolook, Annie Iyapana, Cecilia Topsekok, Sophie Maddux and Margie Lee.
Beatrice loved to sew and could make anything without a pattern. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, Bingo and especially the slots. She enjoyed working crossword and variety puzzles. She was a devoted Catholic by faith. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play sports and was their loudest cheerleader by calling them by their Alaska Native names.
She spoke three languages fluently, with her first language being Alaska Native, French second and English third. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation was chosen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. 3265 Highway 208, Lebanon. Rev. Mark Hamilton will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Mattingly Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
