Melcher Ryan Angiquun “Kaang Kaang” Oozevaseuk

March 1, 1974~March 19, 2018

Melcher Angiquun Kaang-Kaang” passed on to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ, close by his brother Glen Ngiggutaq on March 19, 2018 in Nome, Alaska.

He was born to Gordon and Orpha Oozevaseuk on March 1, 1974. He was the second son born to them.

Melcher grew up with his father, hunting and boating, all the way to the time of his passing. He was an excellent carver and a provider. He was a babysitter for his younger brothers and Angalu.

He loved reading books like Jesus times, books that his mom brought home from church and any spiritual books.

In high school, he was a wrestler and got awards. They were champions in 1985-1986. He earned his GED diploma and also passed his driving test.

He worked as a janitor for the City of Gambell until he got his 4-wheeler. He also worked as a Tribal Police Officer for the Native Village of Gambell and Coastal Clean Water Project and many other various jobs. He loved to cook, especially frying bread.

Angiquun is survived by his parents Gordon and Orpha, his brothers Glen, Homer and Victor, and his sister Raisa Angalu Oozevaseuk. He is also survived by his three nieces. He is preceded in death by too many close relatives to mention on both parents’ sides. All of us will greatly miss him and he will be in our hearts forever, till we meet again. And until we see him face to face again, forever.

The family of Kaang-Kaang would like to thank everyone for prayers and support during these tough times. We would also like to thank the City of Gambell, Gambell Native Store, Arctic Native Brotherhood, NSEDC, NSHC and those who helped make his cross and coffin. Thank you everyone and those we did not mention. God bless you and thank you.
