Elsa Rosemarie Bronson
Longtime Alaskan Elsa Rosemarie (Daniel) Bronson, 92, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in Kenai.
Memorial mass will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Soldotna. Father Patrick Brosamer will officiate. It is God’s perfect gift to be celebrating our mother’s journey home on her birthday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Nome on June 29.
Elsa was born June 21, 1930 in Calcutta, India. She attended the St. Joseph’s Convent in Kalimpong, India and a received a University of Cambridge Certificate with Honors in 1947. She moved to Nome in 1960.
In Nome, she worked for the State of Alaska as an Administrator for the District Attorney and also for the Division of Elections. She retired after working for the State for over 20 years, and moved to the Kenai Peninsula in 2019.
Elsa was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Nome for 61 years.
Elsa was an avid reader, world traveler, and loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed raising birds, mainly finches, and having her canine companions constantly by her side.
Her family wrote, “Mom was a woman of unwavering faith. She was thoughtful and generous in giving to her family, friends and to her church. She enjoyed celebrating milestones, especially birthdays with family and friends. Her generous and caring spirit will be missed. Her life stories will be remembered by all.”
Elsa was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, son, Craig, grandsons, Camas Dean, Jacoby Dean and James Dean, and her son-in-law, Robert Lee Ross.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and James Gray of Kenai, Tina and William Held of San Antonio, Texas, and Dena Ross of Soldotna; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
