Dennis Wayne Kost

October 5, 1963 – Feb. 8, 2023

Dennis Wayne Kost passed away February 8,2023 at the age of 59 at Norton Sound Health Corporation. He was born October 5,1963 to George and JoAnn Kost of Nome, Alaska.

Dennis graduated from Nome-Beltz High School in 1981. He then attended heavy equipment training in White Swan, Washington. He was a 302 operator and worked on the Dalton Highway for Kiewit Pacific Co. in 1993. He also worked at Dead Horse and Chena Hot Springs, the Red Dog mine, the BIA road project from Stebbins to St. Michael and various jobs in Nome for the Department of Highways.

Dennis enjoyed everything with a motorized engine. He enjoyed working on old cars even building an old dump truck from parts he dug out of the tundra. He also enjoyed flying with his Dad also with Jackie Johnson and his lifelong childhood friend Tom Piscoya. They enjoyed many adventures together on the Seward Peninsula.

Dennis also loved dogs he always managed to have one as a companion over the years. He was always giving and caring remembering birthdays and holidays. He kept in touch with his many friends he made during his life time.

Dennis is survived by his mother JoAnn and brother George.

As per his request there will be no memorial services. His cremains will be scattered later this summer. He will join his sister Kristine and his dad George Korky Kost at Kuzitrin where we all spent many years together.

We would like to thank Norton Sound Health Corporation and their staff, all the EMT’s, Bering Straits Native Corporation, Sitnasuak Native Corporation for all their assistance. We would also like to thank Loretta Bullard for helping Dennis at his home and another childhood friend Keith Andrews who spent several months being a care giver for Dennis throughout his illness.

We will miss Dennis may he rest in peace.
