Carey Rene Adsuna
Carey Rene Adsuna was born on June 25, 1980 to Amelia Amaktoolik and Robert Hays. Carey unexpectedly passed away in our home on May 12, 2023.
Carey attended school in Elim, she graduated with her classmates in 1998 at Elim Aniguiin High School.
Carey met the love of her life Garrett Adsuna of Nome, they then married in Elim at the Elim Covenant Church on December 14, 1999. Carey and Garrett had four children Trae, Taylor, Trishelle and Trinity.
Carey was a loving wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and good friend to many. She had a contagious smile and always knew how to make everyone laugh. Carey loved her children and most recently became a first time grandmother to Arron who she loved as her own. Wherever Carey went she was to befriend and be a great friend to one and all.
For most of Carey’s life she lived a very avid subsistence and camping lifestyle. She had a passion for fishing and hunting. She loved cutting fish and putting away or preparing any and all meat we caught. Carey loved being out in the country with her family or friends whether it was in a car, truck, boat, 4-wheeler, or snowmachine.
Carey is survived by her husband Garrett, children Trae, Taylor (Stephine), Trishelle and Trinity. Her mother Amelia, father Robert, Grandson Arron, siblings Alvina, Alvin, Courtney, Dawn, Stephanie, Sheri, Jessica and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends she made.
Carey is preceded in death by her grandparents Wallace Sr. and Jessie Amaktoolik, Jack and Audrey Hays, sister Lela Hays, uncles Jack and Merle Amaktoolik and Aunt Lily Friemering.
The family of Carey Adsuna would like to thank all for the help and support from Nome and the surrounding villages who contributed to the family to help lay Carey to rest. With all the support we felt the love. We will forever hold on to the memories of our dear Carey
