John OlaGanna Penetac Jr. was born on November 12, 1964 to Theresa and John Penetac Sr. at King Island. He attended school in Nome and Mt. Edgecumbe and graduated from Nome-Beltz High School.

John was a great ivory carver and artist like his dad. He worked as a carpenter and various other jobs around Nome. John learned a lot from his brothers and he looked up to them. He loved camping and he was very proud to get one of his own to enjoy. John always had a smile on his face, he helped out so many people in our community. He was very proud of his family. John will be greatly missed by all.

John is survived by his brother Raymond and his wife Sylvia Paniataaq; brother Anthony “Tony” Penetac; his sister Barbara and her husband Leonard Douglas; sister Bernadette Penetac and her ex-husband Warren Lake, Sr.; sister Mary and husband Joe Kunnuk Sr.; sister Marie and husband Luis Merito; and many nephews, nieces and friends.

John is preceded in death by his father John Sr., mother Theresa, brother Stanislaus, sisters Winifred Penetac and Florence O’Neal; uncles Mike Saclamana and Benedict Saclamana; aunties Agnes Kobuk, Mary Livingston and Angela Payenna, and nice Christine Kunnuk.
