Honors: Ashley Sockpick

Ashley Sockpick of Nome, Alaska has received an advanced practice nursing degree from Frontier Nursing University (FNU). Sockpick graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a family nurse practitioner specialty.

FNU offers graduate nurse-midwifery and nurse practitioner distance education programs with the student’s home community serving as the classroom. FNU prepares leaders in primary care to serve all individuals with an emphasis on women and families in diverse, rural, and underserved populations.

“We are so proud of our new graduates who will join thousands of other FNU nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners across the world who are delivering care to deserving families and making an impact on healthcare nationwide and around the globe,” said Dr. Susan Stone, FNU President.

Sockpick is currently a registered nurse at ANTHC and the state of Alaska. She was born in Nome, AK and grew up in the Norton Sound region, living and learning her traditional values. She thrived in her education with the support of her community and family. With her dream of becoming a FNP like her mother Anne Narog of Golovin, AK, she continues her passion of incorporating her traditional values, with her current education to improve the lives of Alaska native peoples and those who are underserved.
